Today's post will begin with a recording of a magnificent Wednesday event at Honánek's place. The joint culinary feast for selected guests has been planned for some time, slowly, a center theme of Indian cuisine emerged, and in the end, we even managed to settle on a date. What I didn't expect was the exceptional gourmet luck we had both during the preparations and during the event itself. I was fairly ambitious in the recipe selection, as I was to make half of the planned items on the menu for the first time in my life. Thanks to the approaching Easter holidays, I ran across some lovely lamb legs in a local butchers'. I bought two of them and marinated them in a mixture of sour cream, almonds, cinnamon, and other spices for a dish called Raan. As I had plenty of time, I set them aside for full 12 hours and then pre-baked them for another five. At Honánek's place, we only had to wait for the final crust to form. As a result, we were rewarded with the tenderest, juiciest meat literally falling off the bones. With the starter, we were similarly lucky, finding totally fresh, unpeeled prawns in the supermarket (see the post bellow). I served them in a tandoori mixture of spices, nested in poppadum baskets. Side dishes included grilled aubergine, red lentils topped with spice fried onion, and my favourite Basmati with coconut milk. Desert wasn't planned at first, however, two days before the dinner, a recipe for grilled pineapple with caramel sauce somehow found its way to me, so I couldn't resist but to add it onto the menu. A number of those originally invited did not make it, however, in the end, a very pleasant, small company of eight people got together. The last thing to add is that litres of excellent red wine from Uruguay were consumed, Růženka fell in love with Piškot, and I finally met my brand new, wonderful sister-in-law, Mishtu.
